Process Intelligent Modeling and Statistical STA improve DFM
New technologies such as Statistical Static Timing Analysis (SSTA) are helping by taking much of the sting out of the variation crisis that designers are facing. The challenge now becomes enabling SSTA with a robust process-intelligent modeling methodology that can translate manufacturing data into usable statistical device, cell and interconnect models with requisite dependability. Cadence fills out DFM flow in time for 45-nm design
Cadence Design Systems officially unveiled Monday at the CDNLive! conference its 45-nm IC design implementation and DFM (design for manufacturability) tool flow, which integrates into the Cadence lineup new technologies including a DFM predictor, an SSTA (statistical-static-timing-analysis) tool, and a critical-area-analysis engine, plus technologies from recent acquisitions of Praesagus and Clear Shape. IBM researchers print nanostructures
Researchers of the IBM Zurich 5b4 lab and the ETH Zurich university have demonstrated a new nanoprint process that could be used - among other applications - to create printed nanowires. The process features a resolution three orders of magnitude higher than known printing technologies, the researchers say. Details... more »
